CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION TO SIGNALS AND SYSTEMS

In Chapter 1, students will be introduced with type of signals such as sinusoidal signal (continuous), digital signals (not-continuous), pulse signals and so on. Then, students will learn about basic systems, consists of signal input, processor, and output signals. Then, students need to learn and perform the basic operation of signals such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, signal delay, signal advanced, signal scaling and so on. Lastly, student need to learn about systems and able to differentiate between each system.

In summary, this is the topics that will be covered in Chapter 1:

  • Type of signals. Continuous-Time signals and system, Discrete-Time signals and system.

  • Signal operation. Elementary signal models.

  • Type of systems. Continuous-Time, Linear Time-Invariant System, Convolution.
