CRG 5.1 - MM-WAVE ANTENNA BEMAFORMING NETWORK DESIGN AND ANALYSIS USING WAVEGUIDE TECHNOLOGY Fifth Generation (5G)
wireless communication has become a main topic of study around the world due to the increase of higher data rate and the maturity of Fourth Generation 4G long-term evolution (LTE) system. Due to the 5G demand for high data rate communication, the beamforming network is found significant in wireless communications. Depending on the operating environment, beamforming network can adapt their radiation patterns as well as avoiding interference from unwanted directions. One major challenge in implementation the 5G wireless communication is due to high losses of planar structure such as microstrip because of the conductor losses and dielectric losses, the new technique should be studied to reduce this losses. To overcome this limitation, a waveguide technology will be used for beamforming network. Therefore, the objective of the research is to investigate and characterize a new and compact butler matrix beamforming network at 28 GHz using waveguide technology. The butler matrix beamforming network consists of 90 degree hybrid couplers, 0 dB crossover and fixed phase shifters
