Abstract—This paper presents a new structure of electromagnetic band gap (EBG) which is slotted patch electromagnetic band gap (spEBG). This structure is being incorporated with an ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna to produce a dual band rejection. The result is presented in term of forward transmission coefficient, S21 for spEBG structure and return loss, S11 for UWB antenna. From the result obtained, this new shape of EBG can reject two frequency bands compared to the conventional EBG structure which is rejecting one frequency band. By varying the parameter of spEBG structure, it can reject at different operating band frequencies. The spEBG structure has been simulated, fabricated and measured at the frequencies of 3 GHz and 8 GHz. The structure is then incorporated with UWB antenna operates between 2.9 GHz and 14.0 GHz. The result shows a good agreement between simulation and measurement has been produced.
